To raise any ambiguity on appellations sometimes unreliable naming the vanilla, we took back the terms of the note of information n ° 2003-61 of June 16th, 2003, edited by the General management of Competition, of Consumption and of Fraud prevention

for the application of law of 1st august on 1905 as regards the Vanilla as the fruit of Vanilla Planifolia and neighbouring kinds.
For the application of the decree is necessary be heard as " neighbouring kinds " Vanilla Tahitensis.
Name " Vanilla Bourbon " applies vanilla produced in Madagascar, in Reunion Island, in Comoros Island and in Mayotte Island except for quite other.
Vanilla tahitensis being habitually less rich in vanillin than Vanilla planifolia, botanical name must be specified on the commercial documents to allow the recognition of these characteristics

Bourbon, only, vanillas coming from a botanical plan " Vanilla Planifolia " is called,
